"What?!? Your camp is open all year, not just in the summer?" is something I hear more frequently than I would like. This past week the Environmental Education and Team Building Intensive was held at Lutherlyn in Pennsylvania. This LOM endorsed event focused on programs that will bring in user groups during the "off-season." Approximately 30 folks interested in sharing ideas, enhancing existing programs, and starting new programs gathered together to network and share resources.
I have found one of the most valuable resources of LOM is the people involved in the network. Having three days at the intensive to ask questions and start brainstorming with some truly gifted and knowledgeable presenters provided me both motivation and encouragement to go back to my site and develop a plan for what environmental education can look like at Sequanota. Now when I get stuck or need advice, I know that I have a list of colleagues that I can call or email. If you haven't yet attended an LOM national conference or educational event, I strongly urge you to consider doing so this year! --Angie Pile, Camp Sequanota in Pennsylvania
