The LOM Member Relations Committee would like to remind you of our Mentoring Program for year-round camp staff! Whether this is your first day on the job or the beginning of your 40th camping season, you are welcome to participate in this great opportunity.
Year-round staff who are new to their outdoor ministry career will be paired with sagely mentors excited to share ideas, expertise, resources, networking, and dreams for the future of camping ministry. Mentors will experience the energy, excitement, and new ideas from mentees. It’s a win-win for all! Contact Rev. Nathan Clements at [email protected] to learn more or to sign up today. Please indicate whether you would like to participate as a mentor or mentee in your email.
Elise Riggs, Program Director at Lutherhill Ministries in Texas, is stoked about this opportunity. Read her reflection below!
With just over a year under my belt as a program director, I have already learned many lessons about having this career. For starters, the job keeps you busy basically the entire year. Second, it is hard to describe what you do, and why you do it, to people not in outdoor ministries. Third, you build deep bonds with your coworkers, but it can be hard to connect with staff from other camps. These are just a few of the reasons why the opportunity to build a relationship with an experienced outdoor professional is so beneficial for us new to this field. Whether it is questions about planning staff training or tips on how to find time for Sabbath, LOM offers resources and the opportunity for developing relationships across the country. --Elise Riggs, Program Director at Lutherhill Ministries in Texas
