Dear LOM Colleagues:
WOW! Am I ever excited about the opportunity I have to serve as your executive director in this wonderful organization we know and love as Lutheran Outdoor Ministries.
Throughout my career, LOM has been the primary network on which I have depended for my first line of support, encouragement, collegial friends, and professional development. And this is not even mentioning the literally hundreds of ideas I have “stolen” from you, among the most creative and innovative people I know. And now, to be providing leadership for LOM as your executive director – it is, to say the least, at the same time humbling and inspiring.
I am not much more than a week into my new responsibilities and I am already feeling inspired and energized by the members of LOM who I’ve had the opportunity to connect with. It’s amazing to me how extensive this organization has become because of the dedicated efforts of our officers, board members, and scores of volunteers who have built LOM into and outstanding resource for equipping and empowering camp leaders throughout the ELCA.
One of the best things LOM does for all of us is to keep us connected. So it is my resolve to be connected with you – all of you – so that together we can make this little corner of the world that we call Outdoor Ministry the best that it can be for the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the whole world. I hope to personally visit, live and in person, each of our camps and to get to know you, the leaders of our camp programs, in the days ahead. I want to listen to you and learn of your passions and your most urgent needs. It will be my way of contributing to the idea of all of us staying connected.
And of course, one of the best ways for all of us to stay connected is coming up soon with the LOM Annual Conference. I’m looking forward to seeing you, November 9-13, at Lutheridge. Until then, please know that I invite you to contact me with your concerns and ideas:
